Expanding the Table is incredibly grateful to have received two grants totaling $17,500. Your generous support provides much-needed funding for our meal service program and significantly boosts our Capital Campaign to acquire a newer vehicle. Your financial support, along with your voucher program, has benefited many individuals and nonprofits within the Summerville community.

Second Chance Saturday Soup is more than a meal—it’s an emotional salve. It’s a reminder that someone still cares. That even on the quietest day of the week, they are not forgotten.

Thanks to past funding, we’ve been able to make this small but mighty gesture of kindness a regular part of our offerings. Meals on Wheels of Summerville hopes to continue this tradition—with your support—to ensure every bowl delivered carries not just nutrition, but love.

Thanks to this grant, Dorchester Seniors has been able to expand essential services such as home-delivered meals, transportation, and wellness programs for older adults across Dorchester County and launched the Second Chance Program, which offers vital support like rental, SNAP, and insurance application assistance. It also funds digital literacy classes and provides essential resources such as food, hygiene items, and access to our senior needs pantry. Your support is creating real change and helping seniors in our community feel seen, supported, and empowered.

“The funding we received from Second Chance assisted us in expanding our team and provided vital support for key programmatic areas, directly benefiting the girls in our care. The funds also supported emotional stabilization efforts, the development of healthy coping strategies, and the provision of essential resources such as Tech-No Boxes, which encourage screen-free regulation and grounding activities, and Emergency Comfort Kits, which offer immediate emotional support during moments of distress or transition. Each of these tools plays a role in helping residents feel safe, supported, and better equipped to engage in their healing journey.”
